PuddleWatch is not for reporting flooding in your area. Please follow this link to find the best place to report a flood.
The PuddleWatch Project
The PuddleWatch project attempts to investigate where and when puddles appear.
For this project, people will use their mobile phones to send in pictures of puddles, along with the time and place they took the photo. We'll use these photos to learn where puddles usually form, what kind of rain makes them appear, and how people deal with them. This is part of the SuDSlab project, which is about studying Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) to manage surface water and lessen flooding.
Find out more about the project SuDSlabHow will my submission be used?
PuddleWatch will get photos, location, and time details from people. Researchers at the University of Hull will use this to study how puddles are spread out as seen by the public. The exact location and time details won't be shared or published. Instead, they will analyse and combine this data to create things like puddle heatmaps and picture collages, which will be shared. All the data sent in will be safely stored, only accessed by researchers, and deleted when it's not needed anymore.
How will data will be kept safe? How can I submit a photo?
Click the link below on your phone to go to the page where you can upload a puddle photo from your area. Only send photos of puddles on public areas, and don't take photos from unsafe places. Make sure there aren't people in the photo. After uploading, you'll get a unique code. Keep this code if you decide to remove your photo later.
